Program of Our Veterinary Assistant School:
The Veterinary Assistant School will prepare students for an entry-level position in a small animal veterinary hospital, as a Veterinary Assistant (Animal Aide), or other animal care focused opportunities.The Veterinary Assistant School will teach basic small animal veterinary hospital skills, such as:

  • Office procedures & Professional conduct
  • Anatomy & Terminology
  • Dentistry
  • Dermatology
  • Ears
  • Fleas
  • Heart worms
  • Internal Parasites
  • Nutrition
  • Animal Behavior
  • Vaccinations
Course Descriptions of Veterinary Assistant School:
The course of studies for a candidate in the Veterinary Assistant School curriculum involves:  Home Study & Clinicals
  • Academic, focusing on: Office Procedures (Standards of Conduct), Anatomy & Terminology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Ears, Fleas, Heartworms, Internal Parasites, Nutrition, Animal Behavior, and Vaccinations.
  • The course of clinical studies will be in a shadowing format.
  • Clinicals in which the prospective student will be required to complete clinical hours in our established Veterinary Hospital.
  • 10 Week AM: The Veterinary Assistant School is a 10 -week program that consists of:  lessons given and completed at home, and clinicals will be at least 4 hours per week at Springboro Veterinary Hospital in a shadowing format.
  • One week ALL DAY:  This lesson is directed towards out-of-state students.  Home study work will be given at the beginning of the program and is to be completed at home and turned in before a certificate will be awarded.  Clinicals will be completed all day Monday thru Friday for a total of 40 hours in a shadowing format.  Room/Board and travel expenses are NOT included in cost of program.
